The River Series (Recycled Glass)

The Rivier Series

I began this series with the idea of turning glass that was destined for a landfill into beautiful pieces. These pieces are primarily made from old glass windows and shelves that were scratched, water etched and otherwise ruined. I cut the panes into slices, rearrange them, and fire them. Following the firing process, they are stained, gilded with various variegated coppers and sealed.

They are named, “The River Series” because the glass appears to be water, flowing over a gilded river bed.

LOVE this series! I’ve done some experimenting with float, really like the idea of making something out of “garbage” Your colorants are not fired on? Glass is my favorite medium, I draw, paint, do a little metal sculpture and wire work
