Mira Woodworth

Mira Woodworth is an award-winning glass artist whose work has been featured in juried shows, invitationals and most recently, Art Jewelry Magazine. While her focus remains on glass art, she also works with recycled materials, traditional acrylic painting, and metal forming.

Mira’s (Official) Artist Statement:

I am a life-long student of the arts and crafts movement that was popular at the turn of the last century. This movement was a response to the industrial revolution’s machine-made signature on daily life. At the time, artisans were celebrated and revered for bringing excellent design to common household objects, making fine art accessible to everyone. In our current culture of mass-produced imports, I believe this movement is as relevant today as it was a century ago.

Mira’s (Evolving) Artist Statement:

First and foremost, I create. I create with glass, paints, scrap metal, garbage, or any other materials I get my hands on.

I started with glass in 2000 when I began teaching myself techniques through careful study of books, the internet and a very long process of trial and error. In this journey, I discovered inspiring craft and art media from all over the world. These colors, textures, and flavors continue to inspire me today.

I now combine glass with unexpected methods and materials such as paper, foils, acrylic, polymer, metal, photography and clay. As I continue in this vein, my focus has turned away from the medium of glass itself. While I still love glass, I no longer create glass for glass’ sake. Instead, my focus has shifted to rendering content-driven artwork in interesting combinations of mediums to best communicate my unique vision.

My work was first accepted into a juried art show in the 2002 Amador County Art League Annual.
